CUT TO: First Fiction
This project was my first attempt at
making a fiction film. This is an exploration of the idea of fantasy and
reality.
The film explores a day in the life of an urban girl, sick and tiered of the crowded, noisy life, her obsession being that of collecting photographs of open empty spaces. Slipping into her fantasy, she ‘’escapes’’ into a world of an open green space. Wherein she sees an empty old shed. She opens it decides to clean up and sort of settle down there. This fantasy doesn’t end too well, only for her to realize, that what she has already is unsatisfactory, is just a matter of her own perception.
This project stems from the idea of how bad, per say, our urban lives are. But in my perception, I feel it is actually just a matter of perception and what you make of the situation you’re in. I have not yet found the answer for my self on what it is to be able to celebrate the urban space, but then again, this was a first try.
